Akron Inmate Escapes from jail

According to a report from WKYC;

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office has issued an alert as authorities search for an escaped inmate in the Akron area.

The inmate – identified as Jason Lyle Conrad – was taken to Summa Health White Pond Medical Center at 1 Park West Boulevard in Akron around 8 a.m. Tuesday when authorities say the escape occurred as a deputy was removing him from a transport vehicle.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says the inmate has charges of willfully fleeing, possession of drugs, trafficking in drugs and a parole violation.

Conrad, who authorities say was handcuffed and wearing a boot for a previous injury, “was able to escape and ran away after removing the boot.”

Sheriff’s deputies are being assisted in their search for Conrad by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and officers from Akron, Fairlawn and Copley.

He’s described as a white man, 5’9” tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Authorities say he is possibly wearing an orange shirt and pants or blue shorts.
