An Ohio Couples Pleads Not Guilty for death of child.

A Scioto, COUNTY, Ohio (WCHS) —

A Portsmouth, Ohio, couple who was previously arrested after the death of an 18-month-old girl pleaded not guilty to all charges Tuesday, officials said.

Kristina A. Edwards, 36, and Larry Leslie Weaver, 22, were indicted earlier this month after a Jan. 6 investigation into the death of an infant who died while in the custody of Scioto County Children’s Services and had been put into a kinship placement.

In addition to an involuntary manslaughter charge, Edwards and Weaver also were indicted on charges of endangering children, having a weapon while under disability, possessing criminal tools, aggravated trafficking on drugs, trafficking in heroin, trafficking in fentanyl-related compound, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and possession of heroin.

Edwards also was indicted on a charge of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specific government facility.

Details about the child’s death were not available, but the body of the infant was sent to Montgomery County for an autopsy.

The couple will be seen in court Tuesday at 11am.
