Spirit Airlines will be temporary closed this summer at the Akron/Canton airport. Spirit Airlines are known for affordable flights. The airline unfortunately has been experiencing difficulties post COVID restrictions.
According to Spirit during a interview with Wall Street Journal. The airline will make these changes starting June 5th to November 2022. Spirit will no longer have flights leaving from Akron/Canton Airport. Spirit opens up about canceling multiple flights due to lack of staff, weather and other issues. Unfortunately at this time its in their best interest to stop flights from this airport this summer.
Spirit has had to make adjustments to flights this past year. At times adding flights to accommodate passengers due to delays. The staff shortage plays a role in the delays. No staff to operate the equipment, no staff to check bags, and a lack of flight attendants. Cleveland airport will not be affected as much at this time. They still will have flights from the Cleveland Airport with added adjustments as well.
Spirit’s Airline Corporation released this statement;
“Spirit is joining several other airlines in proactively adjusting our summer schedule to provide additional flexibility during the busy travel season and ensure we provide the travel experience our Guests have come to expect from us. We have a great relationship with Akron-Canton Airport and plan to restart our CAK flights in November 2022. We extend our apologies to our Guests for any inconvenience to their travel plans, and Guests will receive notifications with information on refunds for impacted flights.”
